01 // The Challenge

Ultracommerce needed an
engineering partner who could
move at startup speed with
enterprise quality.

Ultracommerce, which acquired Omnyfy in 2023, is a MACH-certified enterprise commerce platform built specifically for multi-vendor marketplaces. Their platform powers B2B, B2C, and C2C marketplaces for some of the world's largest brands.

But building and maintaining an enterprise marketplace platform is engineering-intensive. Ultracommerce needed a partner who could:

Ship fast without cutting corners.

Their product roadmap was aggressive - new features, platform capabilities, and client customizations shipping continuously. They needed engineers who could execute in 2–4 week sprints.

Understand marketplace complexity.

Multi-vendor commerce isn't standard ecommerce. Vendor onboarding, split-order fulfillment, commission engines, multi-currency payouts - every feature has edge cases only marketplace engineers can anticipate.

Scale without scaling cost.

Hiring a full in-house engineering team in Australia for this volume of work would have been prohibitively expensive.

Stay for the long haul.

This wasn't a one-off project. They needed a partner embedded in their product, their codebase, and their roadmap.

02 // The Solution

An embedded engineering partnership -
not a vendor relationship.

Embedded, Not Outsourced

Qarbi engineers work as an extension of the Ultracommerce product team. Same Slack channels, same sprint planning, same codebase. The distinction between teams is invisible to their clients - by design.

Sprint-Based Delivery

Work is organized in 2–4 week sprints aligned with Ultracommerce's product roadmap. Features are scoped, built, tested, and deployed within each sprint. No waterfall.

Full-Stack Marketplace Engineering

1
Vendor lifecycle management - Self-service onboarding workflows, vendor dashboards, performance analytics, tiered vendor programs
2
Commission engine - Flexible commission rules (flat, percentage, category-based, tier-based), automated payout calculations, financial reporting
3
Split-order fulfillment - Unified cart to per-vendor order splitting to independent tracking to consolidated customer view
4
Catalog & search - Unified product taxonomy across vendors, approval queues, faceted search, vendor storefronts
5
Payment infrastructure - Split payments at checkout, automated vendor payouts, refund handling, multi-currency support
6
API layer - RESTful and GraphQL APIs for headless deployments, third-party integrations, and client customizations
7
Multi-country deployments - Localization, currency handling, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements across 13 countries

Quality at Scale: 570+ features shipped with enterprise-grade code quality. Automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring - the same engineering rigor you'd expect from an in-house team, delivered at 40% less than Australian agency rates.

06 // What This Means For You

Why this matters if you're
building a marketplace.

We've built marketplace architecture at scale.

Not a prototype. Not a proof of concept. A production platform running 50+ marketplaces across 13 countries for brands like LG and IKEA.

We're a long-term partner, not a project vendor.

This partnership is 4+ years old and growing. We stay embedded in the product, the codebase, and the roadmap.

We deliver senior work at 40% less.

Ultracommerce chose us because the engineering quality matched or exceeded what they'd get from a local Australian team - at a fraction of the cost.
