Case Study - Marketplace From Zero

From blank canvas to
Australia's aesthetic
treatment marketplace.

Qarbi built Fabshaping from the ground up - a marketplace connecting patients with aesthetic clinics offering 76+ device-based treatments. Booking system, clinic onboarding, device education, knowledge hub, and SEO architecture - all delivered at a fraction of what a traditional agency quoted.

For clinic owners reading this

What this build means if you're running a clinic.

You don't need a marketplace. You need a booking engine that doesn't take 20% of every patient and a website that converts. Fabshaping is proof we build exactly that — at marketplace scale, for a single clinic, or anywhere in between.

Want one for your clinic? →
  • Custom booking engine — no third-party commission, no per-booking fee, ever.
  • Self-service clinic onboarding + dashboard — clinics own their listings, devices, calendars, and bookings.
  • Patient accounts — appointment management, deposits, 48-hour cancellation policy, automated confirmations.
  • Payment flexibility — TLC financing integration alongside standard card processing. Australian-compliant.
  • SEO-first architecture — every page indexed, every clinic discoverable, ranking infrastructure baked in from sprint one.
01 // The Challenge

Build a marketplace for
an industry that didn't
have one.

Beauty Holdings Australia had a vision: create the definitive platform where Australians can learn about aesthetic energy devices, compare treatments, find qualified clinics, and book consultations - all in one place.

The aesthetic treatment industry in Australia was fragmented. Patients faced real problems:

Information was scattered and unreliable.

Someone considering Morpheus8 or BBL HERO had to piece together information from clinic websites, Instagram posts, and forum threads.

Finding the right clinic was a guessing game.

Google “skin tightening near me” and you get a mix of ads, blog spam, and clinic websites that all say the same thing. No way to compare.

Booking was fragmented.

Every clinic had its own booking system (or none at all). No central platform. No standardized process. No transparency.

Clinics had no efficient way to reach informed patients.

Clinics spent heavily on Google Ads and Instagram marketing, competing for the same generic keywords. No platform connected them with high-intent patients.

The challenge: build a two-sided marketplace from scratch - one that serves patients looking for treatments AND clinics looking for qualified leads. With no existing codebase, no template, and no similar platform in the Australian market.

02 // What We Built

A complete marketplace - education,
discovery, and booking in one platform.

For Patients

Device & Treatment Education - A comprehensive library of aesthetic energy devices — laser, radiofrequency, ultrasound, IPL, micro-needling — with detailed information on what each device treats, how it works, what to expect, and which concerns it addresses.
Treatment Concern Matching - Patients start with their concern — skin tightening, jawline definition, body contouring, collagen stimulation, acne scarring — and the platform matches them with the right device technologies and clinics.
Clinic Discovery & Comparison - Search and filter clinics by location, treatment type, device availability, and ratings. Each clinic has a detailed profile with their devices, treatments, practitioner information, and galleries.
Booking System - Integrated consultation booking with 48-hour cancellation policy, deposit handling, appointment management through patient accounts, and automated confirmations.
Payment Flexibility - Integration with TLC financing — allowing patients to spread the cost of treatments through flexible payment plans directly through the platform.

For Clinics

Self-Service Onboarding - Clinics register through "List Your Clinic" — adding their profile, devices, treatments, practitioner details, images, and booking availability.
Clinic Dashboard - Dedicated login and management portal. Clinics manage their profile, update device listings, view booking requests, and track patient inquiries.
Qualified Lead Generation - Instead of competing on Google Ads for generic keywords, clinics receive patients who have already researched the treatment they want. Higher-intent leads at lower acquisition cost.
Device & Treatment Showcase - Each clinic's profile highlights their specific devices and the treatments they perform — allowing patients to compare based on actual technology, not marketing claims.

Knowledge Hub

Content Platform - A built-in blog and educational resource center. Published content includes treatment comparisons, device deep-dives, recovery guides, and industry news.
SEO Content Strategy - The knowledge hub serves a dual purpose - educating patients and capturing organic search traffic for treatment-related queries. Each article is structured for search visibility and links to relevant device pages and clinic listings.

Reading this as a clinic owner, not a marketplace founder? You don't need a marketplace. You need a booking engine that doesn't take 20% of every patient. We build those too.

03 // The Approach

Built in sprints - not in a
12-month waterfall.

Discovery: Understanding Two Audiences

Before writing any code, we mapped the needs of both sides of the marketplace. Patients: What information do they need to make a decision? What's the journey from “I'm curious” to “I've booked”? Clinics: What do they need from the platform to justify listing? This wasn't a 6-week discovery phase with a 40-page document. It was focused conversations and rapid prototyping.

SEO From Sprint 1

  • URL structure designed for treatment and device keywords
  • Internal linking strategy connecting devices → treatments → clinics → knowledge hub
  • Schema markup for medical procedures, clinics, and booking actions
  • Content hierarchy optimized for featured snippets and "People Also Ask" results
  • Knowledge hub planned as an organic traffic engine from day one

Sprint-Based Build

01
Sprint 1: Core platform architecture, device database, treatment taxonomy
02
Sprint 2: Clinic profiles, onboarding flow, search and filtering
03
Sprint 3: Booking system, patient accounts, appointment management
04
Sprint 4: Knowledge hub, content management, SEO infrastructure
05
Sprint 5: Payment integration (TLC financing), polish, and launch preparation

Each sprint delivered working, deployable functionality. The client reviewed progress every 2–4 weeks and adjusted priorities based on what they saw - not what a scope document promised 6 months ago.

04 // Results

From concept to live marketplace.

Complete Two-Sided Marketplace

A fully functional platform serving both patients and clinics — with device education, clinic discovery, booking, payment, and content management. Built from zero.

76+ Device Treatments Cataloged

Comprehensive coverage of aesthetic energy devices across laser, RF, ultrasound, IPL, micro-needling, and more.

8+ Device Categories

Venus Versa Pro, Morpheus8, BBL HEROic, Fotona SP Dynamis, EMFACE, Hydrafacial Syndeo, Clear + Brilliant Touch, Forever Clear — with scalable architecture for more.

SEO-First Architecture

Every page built for organic search visibility. Internal linking, schema markup, and content structure designed to capture treatment-related search queries across Australia.

Fraction of Agency Cost

The platform was quoted by a traditional Australian agency at significantly more than what Qarbi delivered it for. Same scope. More senior team. Dramatically lower cost.

Sprint-Based, Not Waterfall

Client saw working functionality every 2–4 weeks. Priorities adjusted based on real progress, not a 12-month Gantt chart.

05 // What This Means For You

Why this matters if you're
building something from scratch.

We don't just build stores — we build platforms.

Fabshaping isn't a standard ecommerce site. It's a two-sided marketplace with patient education, clinic onboarding, booking, payments, and content management. We designed the business logic, not just the UI.

We think about SEO before we write code.

Most agencies treat SEO as a post-launch optimization. We build it into the architecture from sprint one — URL structure, internal linking, schema markup, content hierarchy.

We can go from zero to live product — fast.

No existing codebase. No template. Fabshaping was a ground-up build delivered in focused sprints. If you have an idea for a marketplace or platform — we can build it the same way.

We understand the business, not just the tech.

We asked: "What does a patient need to see before they'll book? What does a clinic need to see before they'll list?" Engineering that thinks about revenue, not just features.
