Build costs vary $8K–$18K depending on practitioners, integrations, and whether we build the clinic website too. Audit gives you an exact number.

02 // Assumptions

How to read the numbers

01

Build cost: $12,000

A typical mid-size clinic / spa / salon build. Range is $8,000–$18,000 depending on practitioner count, integrations (Tyro, Medicare, PMS), payment scope, and whether we build the website too.

02

Commission %: your current rate

Fresha new-client commission is 20%. Existing-client commission is 2–5%. Timely / Kitomba / Cliniko are subscription-based so the equivalent commission % is your monthly subscription divided by monthly bookings × value.

03

3-year window

Three years is roughly the average lifespan of a booking system before owners reconsider. After year three, the savings compound — every additional year on a custom build is pure margin.

04

Inflation, growth, churn excluded

Real-world numbers will be more favorable to a custom build, since SaaS subscriptions go up with inflation and per-seat charges, while a one-time build cost doesn't. The calculator is conservative.

The intangibles
that tilt further toward
custom.

The dollar figure is just one input. The non-cash benefits of owning your booking engine are usually larger over time:

  • Branded checkout — your patients never leave your site mid-booking. Conversion typically lifts 20–40%.
  • You own the data — patient list, booking history, treatment notes. Migrate, segment, or analyse without asking permission.
  • Custom workflow — multi-room logic, package balances, gift vouchers, deposits. The complexity SaaS forces you to dumb down.
  • No subscription disappearance risk — you stop paying SaaS, the bookings stop. You stop paying us, the booking engine still runs.
