The Booking System
Buyer’s Guide
for Australian clinics & spas.

We get asked “is custom worth it?” on every audit call. We wrote it down. 5-page PDF: side-by-side comparison of every major Australian booking platform, real 3-year cost math, and a decision framework so you know what fits your stage.

01 // What’s inside

Five pages.
Zero fluff.

We see the same questions over and over from clinic and spa owners thinking about switching. The Buyer’s Guide is the structured answer — written so you can read it in 10 minutes and walk away with real numbers for your business.

  • The 3 questions to ask before choosing. How to figure out — in five minutes — whether SaaS, custom, or something else fits your stage.
  • Comparison table. Fresha, Timely, Kitomba, Cliniko, HotDoc, HealthEngine, custom build — features, real prices, hidden costs.
  • Cost calculator. 3-year total cost at 100, 250, and 500 bookings/month. The math most clinic owners never run.
  • Decision framework. When SaaS is genuinely the right call, when it's not, and what to look for in either path.
  • Next steps. How to start an audit (or evaluate one yourself), what a credible build looks like, and what to demand from any vendor.

02 // Why we wrote it

Most clinic owners don’t know
what they’re paying.

Fresha’s 20% commission on new clients is buried in a two-paragraph T&C. Timely’s “starter” tier excludes the features most clinics actually need. Cliniko charges per practitioner per month — and most owners haven’t noticed how that compounds with a growing team.

The Buyer’s Guide is the comparison nobody else will publish — because most of the people writing about booking systems sell one. We don’t. We build custom. So we have no incentive to spin SaaS in a particular direction.

If after reading it SaaS is genuinely the right call for your stage, we’ll tell you. If a custom build makes sense, you have the math to back the decision when you go to your accountant.
