— 50+ launched across 13 countries.

Qarbi is the implementation partner behind Ultracommerce's marketplace platform - powering multi-vendor commerce across 15 industries. We build marketplace architectures that handle vendor onboarding, split-order fulfillment, and commission complexity that off-the-shelf solutions can't touch.

01 // The Challenge

Marketplaces are the hardest ecommerce
model to get right.

Building a marketplace isn't like building a store. A store has one seller, one inventory, one checkout. A marketplace has dozens - or hundreds - of sellers. Here's where marketplace projects typically break:

1
Vendor onboarding is manual chaos. New sellers sign up, but getting them live takes weeks of back-and-forth — catalog uploads, compliance checks, payment setup, training. There's no self-service path.
2
Orders touch multiple vendors. A customer buys from 3 sellers in one cart. Now you need split fulfillment, per-vendor tracking, partial refunds, and coordinated delivery windows.
3
Commissions are a spreadsheet nightmare. Category-based commissions, volume tiers, promotional overrides, and subscription fees? You're doing it manually in Excel.
4
Inventory is never accurate. Vendors update stock in their own systems, but the marketplace shows "in stock" when the vendor sold out 2 hours ago.
5
The UX falls apart at scale. 10 vendors looked fine. 100 vendors broke the search, destroyed page speed, and made category pages unusable.
02 // Capabilities

Purpose-built marketplace architecture

Vendor Lifecycle Management

Self-service onboarding — Vendors register, upload products, set up payment details, and go live with minimal operator intervention.
Vendor dashboard — Each seller gets their own portal: product management, order management, sales analytics, payout history.
Performance monitoring — Track fulfillment rates, response times, return rates, and customer ratings. Auto-flag underperformers.
Tiered vendor programs — Bronze, Silver, Gold — with different commission rates, visibility, and feature access.

Order & Fulfillment

Unified cart, split fulfillment — Customers shop across vendors in a single cart. Orders split automatically by seller.
Per-vendor tracking — Each vendor's portion has its own tracking number, delivery estimate, and status.
Multi-warehouse routing — Orders route to the nearest warehouse or the one with available stock.
Returns & refunds — Per-vendor return policies, automated refund calculations, and restocking workflows.

Commission & Payments

Flexible commission engine — Flat rate, percentage, category-based, vendor-tier-based, or any combination.
Automated payouts — Vendor payouts calculated and disbursed on your schedule. Supports Stripe Connect, PayPal for Marketplaces.
Split payments at checkout — Customer pays once. Funds automatically split between vendors and the operator.
Financial reporting — Revenue by vendor, commission earned, refunds processed, pending payouts.

Catalog & Search

Unified product catalog — Products from all vendors in a single, searchable catalog with consistent taxonomy.
Catalog quality control — Approval queues for new products. Automated checks for required fields and duplicates.
Faceted search — Filter by vendor, category, price, attributes, ratings. Powered by Elasticsearch or Algolia.
Vendor storefronts — Each seller gets a branded page showcasing their products, story, and ratings.

We've built most of them.

Retail Marketplace
Multiple brands selling through a unified storefront. Think department store model — one checkout, many sellers. Fashion, electronics, home goods.
Wholesale / Distribution Marketplace
Manufacturers and distributors selling to B2B buyers through a shared platform. Customer-specific pricing, bulk ordering, and company accounts per vendor.
Service Marketplace
Connecting service providers with customers. Booking, scheduling, provider profiles, and review systems. Healthcare, beauty, professional services.
Hybrid (Own Inventory + Vendors)
You sell your own products AND third-party vendor products through the same platform. Separate fulfillment, unified customer experience.
Rental / Subscription Marketplace

07 // FAQ

Questions about marketplace development

Shopify marketplace apps work for simple setups — a handful of vendors with basic needs. But they break at scale: limited commission logic, no real split payments, poor vendor management, and performance issues with large catalogs. If you're building a real marketplace business, you need purpose-built architecture.

Absolutely. Most successful marketplaces launch with 5–20 vendors and grow from there. We'll build the architecture to scale from day one, but scope the initial build to get you to market fast with your founding vendors.

We integrate with Stripe Connect or PayPal for Marketplaces for automated split payments. When a customer pays, funds are automatically divided between the vendor(s) and the marketplace operator based on your commission rules.

Common scenario. We can build feed integrations that sync vendor product data from their existing stores (Shopify, WooCommerce, custom) into your marketplace. Vendors manage products in their system; changes flow to the marketplace automatically.

The platform includes vendor verification workflows, product approval queues, automated listing quality checks, buyer/seller rating systems, and dispute management tools.

That's what the discovery phase is for. We'll help you think through commission structures, vendor value propositions, chicken-and-egg launch strategies, and unit economics before writing a single line of code.
